Caddyinfo in 5 words or less

I was reading Cristina Favreau’s (The Savvy Entrepreneur) blog entry from last year: 5 Words Or Less

The premise is that one should be able to define their product or service in 5 words.  For Caddyinfo.com, normally the words I use are Caddyinfo.com:  Cadillac Information and Discussion.  Sometimes given room I expand this to Cadillac Information, Discussion, How-to and Community or similar.

But what are Cadillac Enthusiasts (our target market) looking for when they search the web?  Probably help with a problem with their Cadillac, or features of a new Cadillac, or ?

Perhaps NOT Information or Discussion, which while descriptive to me are not natural search terms — few would say “Gosh, I think later I’ll search the internet for a good site that has Cadillac Information”.  Instead, they might search for “Cadillac Deville Struts” or similar, and never realize that Caddyinfo would be a good place to talk about struts, diagnosing struts, advice on replacing struts, alternatives, etc.

So what might be a better way in 5 words to describe Caddyinfo?  Here are some of my ideas; what are your ideas?

Caddyinfo.com :  Cadillac Help, Repair Advice, & Enjoyment

Caddyinfo.com:  Cadillac Problems, Fixes, and Fun

Caddyinfo.com:  Cadillac Talk, Advice, and Solutions

I will offer a Caddyinfo T-shirt or Cadillac Hat for the best responses by the end of October if I am able to select and use one that is better than those shown as the new subtitle for Caddyinfo.com.

More Vistaprint, New Sponsors

Received the Caddyinfo T-shirt and business cards from Vistaprint.  Good service and delivery.

The shirt looks good.  I will change the text a bit for future orders, but it is priced well to run short orders which is nice.  This one says “Cadillac Information & Discussion by and for Cadillac Enthusiasts”; next one I will simplify that to “Information & Discussion for Cadillac Enthusiasts”.  (Thanks Ann for the edit).

The bus cards printed fine, but using the onsite design tools I selected stuff that is just too small to read well.  I’ll go back to just plain large black text on a white card for our next order.

My plan is to have Caddyinfo Supporter kits with bus cards, post cards, and a large magnet that give people stuff to help share Caddyinfo with others.

I had looked at affiliate marketing through Commission Junction a long time ago, but never really got it setup and running.  After some confusion about my previous account and getting started again, I have setup several new affiliate relationships with companies that fit well on Caddyinfo.  Auto parts suppliers PartsTrain and AutoParts Warehouse, Auto books Motorbooks, LeaseTrader, and of course Vista Print.  Hopefully our Caddyinfo Readers will find these links useful for buying things.

Sweating Software updates

Updates this morning to our forum software appear to have gone well.  I always sweat this stuff, because I hate being offline if it goes over a cliff.    The upgrade appears to be seamless in this case, and everything appears to be up and functional.  We got guests online right away, but I held my breath a moment until I could see a ‘regular’ (yay KHE) show up.

The goal of the new upgrades is to add a more complex CAPTCHA, “Completely Automated Public Turing Test to Tell Computers and Humans Apart”.   This forces users to input a random code when registering and changing email address, etc to prevent bot’s from spamming the forums (hopefully).  The innovative approach here is that this part of the forum can be upgraded separately now in a mostly-automated fashion so that as the forum software producer comes out with better and better ways to make the CAPTCHA not readable by robots then they can push that upgrade to each forum.

As with any change, please let me know if you see any behavior you don’t expect.
