  1. I bought a 2013 Cadillac CTS, about seven months ago. I love the car BUT I regret not getting the Blind Zone Alert System side mirrors and the back up parking assist. I do have the back up camera and the navigation system come on while in reverse but I’ve found that these two items would be a great benefit. Is there any way to have these items installed after the purchase of the car?? Your thoughts and or any ideas would be greatly appreciated
    Sincerely,Lyn

  2. Hi Lyn,

I have repeated your question in the forum here: http://caddyinfo.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=43394
so you get the benefit of more people considering it. In general, the answer is yes, and no. It is possible, but you would have to do it as a science project, researching each part and component of these systems and grafting them on to your car. If you are mechanically inclined it could be a fun a rewarding project though.

  3. Thank you for the replies. I really appreciate you taking the time to answer. I guess I will just keep my car the way it is. After all this time,I’ve come to realize that I’m perfectly happy with my car even without the SBZA. I have the back up cam and that’s the most important and most used feature I have. I am finding out my car does things that I had no idea it had :). I’m really loving my Cadillac. Thanks again for your input.

  4. I’ve done some research and found there are companies that make aftermarket blind zone alert kits. Do you know anything about these kits or companies? I’m slowly finding out that my car has features that I didn’t know it had..like heated side mirrors. I’m wondering since they’re heated, could I change them out for the blind zone alert system. They obviously have some prewiring ..would you know? Omg, and trying to learn all the voice commands. Lol. When I first got the car,I was driving down the freeway, listening to my fav CD,when all of the sudden I hear an announcement over the speakers warning me of a traffic jam ahead. I’ve read the manual but I’ve found that it’s not real clear on how things work…that’s why I’m on here asking questions. Thank you kindly for your help. Sorry I didn’t respond to your earlier answer to my question but I had forgotten to bookmark this site.

  5. Hi — one way to answer your question is to go to a parts site and search for all the parts for that system for a non-blind-zone car, then all the same parts for a blind-zone alert car. That would tell you what you need to purchase & replace. It may be as simple as adding the parts — I added memory seats that way. Or it may not. The Blind Zone Alert system is not just the mirror change — it actually uses a detection system that senses if a vehicle enters the blind zone. Look at this diagram which I think shows the idea.
