Cadillac U.S. Retail Sales Rise 8 Percent in May 2011

  • 16th consecutive month of year-over-year retail sales gains
  • CTS continues strong year-to-year retail growth, up 28 percent
  • Escalade retail sales up 10 percent

DETROIT – Cadillac continued its 16-month run of year-to-year sales gains, reporting   U.S. retail sales increased 8 percent in May to 9,832, led by the CTS family of luxury cars and Escalade line of luxury SUVs.

Bruce Notes: CTS sales are rocking along, breaking 4K/mo again, and SRX sales were close behind.  Unsurprisingly DTS sales are fading as the model moves out of production ahead of the XTS arrival.  Gas Prices undoubtedly effecting Escalade sales somewhat.  Overall sales were up per sales day for a short May.

“Cadillac remains a strong, successful brand that is approaching a year-and-a-half run of consecutive retail sales gains,” said Kurt McNeil, vice president of Cadillac Sales and Service. “It’s a testament to our solid product offerings among the CTS, SRX and Escalade brands and our attention to superior customer service.”

The CTS Sedan, Wagon and Coupe posted retail sales of 3,686 units in May for a 28 percent increase compared to the same month last year and year-to-date retail sales of the CTS family are up 75 percent. The CTS family includes the high-performance V-Series models, which this year is competing against top luxury sports cars in the SCCA World Challenge GT racing series.

SRX retail sales also remained strong in May at 3,617 units. SRX has a calendar year-to-date retail sales increase of 22 percent. Since being redesigned for the 2010 model year, the SRX has continued to gain market share and receive high marks from automotive journalists and industry analysts.

Retail sales of the Cadillac Escalade also grew in May to 1,706 units, a 10-percent gain over last year and a 10 percent calendar-year-to-date increase. Escalade remains the top selling luxury SUV brand in the United States.

@Cadillac Wrap – the CTS-V Coupe Racer

Love Cadillac’s attitude on their racing pages:

IT ISN’T SO MUCH A WILL TO WIN AS
IT IS A REFUSAL TO FOLLOW.
Where do you go when you’ve proven you can build one of the world’s most acclaimed production cars, the 556 horsepower Cadillac CTS-V? To the racetrack, to make it even better. This season, Cadillac joins North America’s top production-based race series, the Sports Car Club of America World Challenge. Our competitors are going to get very used to watching these taillights.

The CTS-V Racers are prepared by Pratt & Miller

The V Racer colors are probably done using a vinyl wrap.  That makes it quick and easy to get the same effect every time,  after repairs, etc.

I would like to see Cadillac offer a wrap like this as an option for Customer Cadillac CTS-V Coupes.

Yes, I know it is not a conservative look  for a road car, but this is the sort of thing that some Customers might enjoy.

And it certainly would be remarkable to pull up next to one at a stoplight.

Scenic Texas Road Quick-Trip: Plano – Leonard #Motorama

Today I mapped out a scenic road trip in North Texas from Plano through Melissa and Blue Ridge to Leonard, Texas.

I selected this route because FM 545 from Melissa to Blue Ridge is noted as a curvy, tight road that serves well for an afternoon drive. I am happy to confirm this, although because it is tree lined and tight, not a good place to see just how fast you can get around the corners so much as a good place to enjoy a drive.

I stopped off and shot this pond in a field just along the road in or near Leonard.

Across from Lea’s, Leonard field-house wall shows Leonard High School’s records.  This is how you communicate to your competitors lol.

Lea’s is very unassuming from the outside.  The building in the middle is Lea’s, and it is sort of tucked in behind the grocery store in the middle of a corner.

I had the lunch buffet, selecting chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, fried okra, and corn bread.

I rate Lea’s as Bring your Own Beverage — the only diet soft drink they serve is Diet Dr. Pepper.  Next time through I will plan to duck into the grocery next door and get a diet coke on the way.  I shot this pic with my camera phone, so please forgive that part.

I caught this shot to give you an idea of the road on the way; lots of nice 2-lane with or without shoulders and farm land.

Route Summary:

545 was exactly as advertised — tight curvy 2 lane.  Overall the route was a good quick run and made a relaxing tour.  Another day I would make this the first leg, since I was just getting to some good rural driving areas by the time I headed back to 75 via 121.
