Cadillac Product Line Highlights for 2008

ALL-NEW, DRAMATICALLY DESIGNED CTS LEADS NEXT ERA OF CADILLAC’S RENAISSANCE

In recent years, Cadillac has engineered an historic renaissance with a completely transformed product lineup powering enhanced consumer image and global growth. Entering the 2008 model year, Cadillac pushes its progress even further, with the dramatic new CTS luxury sport sedan leading the brand into a new and more ambitious era.

The Cadillac product lineup continues to extend its performance, design and technology credentials in 2008. The STS performance sedan undergoes major enhancements for 2008, including a new standard V6 engine and advanced safety innovations. The exclusive Platinum Series, offering distinctively elegant luxury features, extends to the DTS and STS sedans, as well as to the XLR luxury roadster. Mid-way through the 2008 calendar year, a new and much-anticipated Escalade Hybrid will debut, using the innovative “two-mode” gas-electric hybrid system to provide significant fuel efficiency to the image and sales leader among luxury SUVs.

Launching in late summer 2007, the all-new CTS is characterized with dramatic design and serious performance, and a renewed emphasis on handcrafted details and advanced technology.

Inspired by Cadillac’s landmark Sixteen concept car, the design of the CTS is immediately recognizable. The large, chrome dual-textured grille is significantly more vertical in shape, and is both aggressive and intricate. A two-inch increase in track width, along with an evolution of CTS’ trademark edginess provides a new, more aggressive stance and proportion to the car. Details such as new side air extractors and bright accents are a modern homage to Cadillac’s grand heritage. Side extractors and bright accents are among the new details paying homage to Cadillac’s grand heritage. The new look of the CTS brings a flair and personality that is unique to the normally reserved luxury sedan category.

The CTS is offered with a new 3.6L Direct Injection engine, which is more powerful, efficient and clean. This gasoline direct injection technology, similar to what is used on the latest fuel-saving diesels, delivers fuel more precisely to increase the efficiency of combustion. With the CTS’ 3.6L V-6, this means more power, with 304 horsepower (223 kW), no loss of fuel efficiency and a 25-percent reduction in cold-start hydrocarbon emissions.

Six-speed manual and automatic transmissions are offered with the ’08 CTS. And, for the first time, all-wheel drive is added as an optional enhancement. The CTS has a wider track and new suspension that extends both performance and luxury attributes. The new CTS is the second-generation of the car to be developed at Germany’s famed Nürburgring circuit, as well as extensive testing on tracks, city streets, and rural roads across Europe, China and North America

Inside, the ’08 CTS exemplifies Cadillac’s focus on handcrafted details, including cut-and-sewn interior trim, authentic wood accents and a sharply tailored appearance. Dramatic interior lighting supplied by LEDs dresses the cabin distinctively at night.

CTS is also a technology leader, incorporating a host of convenient and thoughtful features, including a USB port that enables iPods and similar devices to receive battery charging while integrating seamlessly with the audio system. Other helpful technologies include adaptive forward lighting that swivels in concert with steering, a navigation system with touch-screen and voice control, a heated windshield washer fluid, rear ultrasonic park assist, EasyKey system and Smart Remote Start.

Here’s a look at what is new with the other products in Cadillac’s 2008 portfolio:

DTS

New for 2008, the DTS Platinum features an even higher level of luxury for Cadillac’s most discerning customers. First introduced on the Escalade SUV, Cadillac’s Platinum Series is a limited-edition collection of vehicles that express the full extent of the brand’s luxury attributes. For the 2008 DTS, this includes a new handcrafted interior and additional elegant touches.

The 2008 DTS also features two new available safety-enhancing technologies that improve driver awareness. Lane Departure Warning is designed to help drivers avoid a collision caused by an inadvertent lane change, and Side Blind Zone Alert system aids driver awareness of objects that otherwise might escape their vision. Both systems provide audible and visual warnings, based on input from electronic sensors.

The DTS is equipped with the technologically advanced Northstar 4.6L V-8 engine and mated to the Hydra-Matic 4T80 four-speed automatic transmission – a proven combination that assures powerful, sophisticated performance. The Northstar 4.6L V-8 engine is available in two configurations: one rated at 292-horsepower (218 kW) and the other at 275-horsepower (205 kW).

STS

A new 302-horsepower (225 kW) 3.6L Direct Injection V-6 engine with improved power, fuel economy and reduced emissions is the standard engine for 08. Additionally Cadillac’s luxury performance sedan also features enhanced signature styling cues and adds leading-edge performance and safety-enhancing technologies.

For 2008, the Cadillac STS is available in V-6 and V-8 rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive models. For the ultimate marriage of luxury and performance, the STS-V is loaded with performance features, including a 469-horsepower (350 kW) Supercharged Northstar V-8 engine. The STS-V is the most powerful Cadillac ever offered. In addition, Cadillac’s signature Platinum designation comes to STS for ‘08, injecting an additional level of distinctive luxury nuances such as a Glacier Gold exterior finish; bright chrome inserts on the exterior door handles and exclusive Platinum badging.

GM’s Lane Departure Warning System is available on the 2008 STS. Controlled by a camera located in the rearview mirror that reads the lines in the road, the system will alert drivers when they have strayed into another lane. Drivers receive both an audible and visual alert cue. Another new optional feature, GM’s Side Blind Zone Alert System, extends and enhances driver awareness and vision.

XLR

The ’08 XLR roadster adds a dash of exclusivity to its unique combination of performance, advanced technology and dramatic design, with a limited-edition model produced during a short build period (December 2007 through February 2008). The 2008 Alpine White Limited Edition XLR features a chrome grille and 18-inch chrome wheels. The Alpine White XLR follows 2007’s Passion Red XLR, which quickly sold out.

Cadillac also will continue its highly exclusive XLR Platinum series, injecting even more luxury into the brand’s portfolio with luxury touches that include a handcrafted leather interior. Also for 2008, the Cadillac XLR adds a heated steering wheel and an improved version of Cadillac’s acclaimed Magnetic Ride Control system. XLR’s shock damping system is revised for 2008, extending the car’s already impressive blend of agility and ride quality. Other advanced technologies include Adaptive Forward Lighting that enables the headlamps to swivel in concert with vehicle steering; a head-up display; StabiliTrak; heated and cooled seats; Keyless Access with push-button start; and DVD navigation and entertainment.

The XLR represents the top of the Cadillac range with two basic models: the XLR with a 320-horsepower (239 kW) 4.6L Northstar V-8 VVT; and the XLR-V high-performance variant – the quickest and most agile Cadillac ever offered – with a 443-horsepower (330 kW) 4.4L Northstar V-8 supercharged engine.

Escalade

Cadillac Escalade enters 2008 with the widest array of models in the segment, including three body styles – Escalade, and the extended length Escalade ESV and EXT luxury sport-utility truck. Later in the 2008 calendar year, the Escalade family greets two important new members – an exclusive ultra-luxury Escalade Platinum edition and the Escalade Hybrid (details on both of these models will be released later in the year).

Escalade is the image and sales leader among large luxury SUVs, a position earned by its heritage for bold and dramatic design, power and luxury.

Completely redesigned for 2007, the ’08 Escalade features integrated powertrain, chassis, safety and interior systems that deliver the most powerful, efficient luxury SUVs in the segment. Power is derived from a 6.2L all-aluminum V-8 engine with variable valve timing technology delivering 403 horsepower (301 kW)* and 417 lb.-ft. of torque (565 Nm).* The Escalade and Escalade ESV are available in AWD and 2WD configurations (2WD is new to Escalade ESV for ’08), while the Escalade EXT sport-utility truck features standard, full-time AWD.

The “regular” Escalade features 3 standard rows of seating, including the industry-exclusive power fold-and-tumble second row that simplifies access and comfort for passengers or cargo. The extended ESV model features maximum passenger and cargo space, adding 21 inches (53 cm) of length to the body. The EXT is characterized by the pickup-style rear cargo area, featuring the exclusive and innovative Midgate system that enables ultimate flexibility for passengers or cargo and some 45.5 cubic feet (1,289 liters) of covered, lockable storage.

SRX

Cadillac’s acclaimed crossover, the SRX, offers a compelling blend of luxury, convenience and excellent driving dynamics. A near 50-50 weight distribution, low center of gravity, outstanding powertrain combinations and the StabiliTrak stability control system help SRX deliver a fine balance between spirited driving performance and refined ride quality.

The cabin, completely redesigned in 2007, features elegantly handcrafted construction, thoughtful features and premium materials. In ’08 the SRX crossover adds more luxury and convenience to its acclaimed blend of driving performance, spacious versatility and passenger comfort, including Adaptive Remote Start system. This convenient feature starts the engine and can adjust cabin temperature to personal preferences, engage the defrosters, and activate the available heated or vented seats from up to 200 feet away.

The SRX features two engine combinations: the 4.6L Northstar V-8 VVT (variable valve timing) or the 3.6L V-6 VVT. Both are available in rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations. The V-8 engine is sophisticated and technically advanced and generates 320 horsepower (239 kW) at 6,400 rpm and 315 lb.-ft. of torque (427 Nm) at 4,400 rpm. It is backed by a six-speed automatic.

The 3.6L V-6 VVT makes 255 horsepower (190 kW) at 6,500 rpm and 254 lb.-ft. of torque (344 Nm) at 2,800 rpm and is paired with a five-speed automatic. The transmission features Driver Shift Control (with clutchless manual shifting), electronically controlled engine braking and downgrade detection with brake assist.

CADILLAC MOVES INTO SECOND PHASE OF RENAISSANCE:
ESCALADE, V-SERIES LEAD A MORE AMBITIOUS, ELEGANT WAVE OF NEW PRODUCTS

Few automotive brands have achieved what Cadillac has in recent years – a complete product renaissance and extreme makeover of dramatic proportions. The first phase established Cadillac’s new design and serious performance. Now, this historic renaissance moves into a second, even more ambitious era focusing on more elegant product executions.

The 2007 model year marks an important milestone in Cadillac’s march back to prominence among the world’s finest luxury brands. The completely redesigned family of Escalade SUVs aims to extend Cadillac’s leadership in that luxury category. The SRX crossover boasts a more luxurious new interior, in addition to its award-winning performance. And, the landmark V-Series cars (XLR-V, STS-V and CTS-V) continue to explore the potential of the division’s performance, luxury and exclusivity.

This new phase of the division’s renaissance aims to continue Cadillac’s noteworthy progress in dramatic designs and enhanced performance. “Phase two” also adds a renewed emphasis on more elegantly detailed products. This will be achieved with a blend of advanced technology with hand-craftsmanship that harkens back to Cadillac’s origins as a custom luxury coach builder. The new interiors of the SRX crossover, as well as the STS-V and XLR-V, feature interior components cut, sewn and wrapped by hand, bringing extreme accuracy and attention to detail.

The Supercharged Northstar V-8 engine powering the STS-V and XLR-V is hand-assembled to exacting standards at GM’s Performance Build Center in Wixom , Mich. Each engine is built from start to finish by a single expert craftsman. The new Escalade features a completely distinct and luxurious new interior, with touches such as sleek, blue-tinted instrument gauge needles and high technology features such as power release second-row seats and a rearview camera system.

Here is a summary of Cadillac’s new product initiatives for 2007.

Escalade: The all-new 2007 Cadillac Escalade, the next generation of the iconic luxury SUV, establishes a new level of power, style and elegance and introduces the next step in Cadillac’s ongoing renaissance.

Based on General Motors’ all-new full-size SUV platform, the ’07 Escalade features new powertrain, chassis, safety and interior systems. These integrated systems deliver the most powerful, efficient luxury SUV in the segment, led by a new 6.2L all-aluminum V-8 engine with variable valve timing technology delivering 403 horsepower (301 kW)* and 417 lb.-ft. of torque (565 Nm).*

Escalade has a sleeker, cleaner and more athletic form with improved aerodynamics, while appearing smaller in stature than its predecessor. An all-new interior is a cornerstone of the new Escalade and sets a new standard for refinement. The warm and inviting interior is complemented with premium materials and a distinct layout not shared with any other GM full-size SUV .

Cadillac Escalade is available now in dealer showrooms.

Escalade EXT: The all-new 2007 Cadillac Escalade EXT brings unmatched versatility to the completely redesigned Escalade family of luxury SUVs. Its unique Sport Utility Truck (SUT) body style gives it a part-SUV, part-pickup profile, blending functionality with luxury.

With the industry-exclusive Midgate panel, owners can easily convert the EXT from a five-passenger SUV into a two-passenger pickup with 9 feet of protected and secured storage. The Midgate, located behind the rear seat, can be folded into the cabin, enabling the cargo area to expand from 5 feet to 8 feet, for a total of 101 cu. ft. in secured volume. A lockable standard tonneau cover protects items in the cargo bed, or can be removed entirely for added space.

Escalade EXT is identical to the standard-length Escalade from the front doors forward, and is as long as the extended-length ESV model. The EXT shares all the comprehensive upgrades of the new Escalade. It has a sleek, clean and athletic form with improved aerodynamics. It is instantly identifiable and incorporates styling cues from Cadillac’s landmark Sixteen concept vehicle, including a more detailed signature grille, front fender vent ports and layers of chrome accents.

The Escalade EXT with all-wheel drive is in dealerships in summer 2006 .

Escalade ESV: The 2007 Cadillac Escalade ESV, also all-new, is the largest member of the family, offering maximum passenger accommodations and cargo capacity. Combining power, size and strength with trademark Cadillac styling and technology, the full-size Escalade ESV complements the Escalade and Escalade EXT.

Like its siblings, the ESV features new powertrain, chassis, safety and interior systems.

Escalade ESV is identical to the standard Escalade from the front doors forward. It, too, is instantly identifiable and incorporates styling cues from Cadillac’s landmark Sixteen concept vehicle, including a more detailed signature grille, front fender vent ports and layers of chrome accents.

The Escalade ESV with all-wheel drive is available in spring 2006.

STS-V: The supercharged 2007 Cadillac STS-V is General Motors’ most intense expression of Cadillac power and performance yet. It has the sophistication of its STS sibling, yet elevates the performance and luxury attributes of the brand’s growing V-Series lineup. The STS-V debuted in late 2005, representing an historic combination of performance technology and hand-crafted elegance.

The 469-horsepower STS-V is the most powerful Cadillac ever. It is capable of exceptional performance for an automobile of its size. Each 4.4-liter Supercharged Northstar V-8 engine is hand-assembled to exacting standards at GM’s Performance Build Center in Wixom , Mich. , and is built from start to finish by a single expert craftsman.

The 2007 STS-V also marks the initial phase of Cadillac’s cut-and-sew approach to interiors, with extensive use of leather-wrapped interior surfaces created by craftsmen who cut, wrap and sew leather components individually.

XLR-V: The 2007 Cadillac XLR-V is a landmark car in Cadillac’s long history. XLR-V elevates the performance and luxury attributes of the brand’s growing V-Series lineup to the fullest extent.

XLR-V is the quickest, most agile and most exclusive Cadillac ever offered. Launched in early 2006, the supercharged XLR-V also adopts Cadillac’s cut-and-sew philosophy.

The 443-horsepower supercharged Northstar V-8 engine powering the XLR-V is hand assembled to exacting standards at GM’s Performance Build Center in Wixom , Mich. Like with STS-V, each engine is built from start to finish by a single expert craftsman.

SRX: The award-wining SRX luxury crossover enters the 2007 model year with a redesigned interior. The all-new cockpit is more luxurious and spacious, featuring a new instrument panel, hand-wrapped upper trim, console, center stack, door trim, wood trim, analog clock and steering wheel.

The instrument panel and door trim use Cadillac’s new cut-and-sew interior process. The vehicle’s new cockpit is hand-built, in the same painstaking fashion Cadillac applies to the limited-production STS-V and XLR-V models, bringing elite craftsmanship into the heart of the luxury marketplace.

New for 2007 is the 6L50 Hydra-Matic six speed transmission that provides increased performance and fuel efficiency. First introduced on Cadillac’s acclaimed STS-V and XLR-V Series in 2006, the new transmission is now standard for rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive V-8 models.

DTS: The redesigned and renamed DTS debuted last year, continuing the legacy of the DeVille, its former iteration, which commanded nearly 50 percent of sales in its segment for nearly two decades.

For 2007, Cadillac refines DTS by adding more standard equipment and revising its interior and exterior color palettes.

For 2007, chrome wheels – with new center caps now featuring the wreath & crest rendered in color – are standard on all models. Popular options such as XM Satellite Radio, cargo mat and rear sunshades – previously available on top-of-the-line packages – are now expanded to become included on more of DTS’s several packages.

In addition, the DTS receives a distinct Cadillac keyfob that will begin appearing across many Cadillac models in 2007, with a more refined appearance in a more compact package. The DVD navigation system adds maps for Korea and Taiwan , and Arabic replaces Italian on the driver information center. The analog clock on the instrument panel has also been revised for better readability.

XLR: The Cadillac XLR retractable hardtop convertible is a striking presence, and in 2007, two new special-edition XLR models – XLR Platinum and Passion Red – add exclusivity and elegance to Cadillac’s landmark roadster. Platinum, first used on a special Escalade model, is Cadillac’s designator for special-edition vehicles that inject even more luxury to the brand’s portfolio.

Cadillac also will debut a Passion Red Special Edition XLR model for 2007, featuring a chrome grille, 18-inch chrome wheels and numbered sill plate. Cadillac will manufacture 200 units of this 2007-only special model. The Passion Red XLR follows 2006’s Star Black special edition that was quickly sold out.

The XLR also upgrades to a six-speed automatic, features Generation 7 OnStar technology for 2007 (for more information, see the OnStar overview in the corporate book) and adds a redesigned key fob unique to Cadillac.

STS: The STS luxury performance sedan delivers sophisticated luxury and rear-wheel/all-wheel drive capability in a contemporary package.

New for 2007 is the 6L50 Hydra-Matic six speed transmission that provides increased performance and fuel efficiency. The transmission, first introduced on Cadillac’s acclaimed STS-V and XLR-V in 2006, is standard on AWD and RWD V-8-equipped models. The new transmission features a generous 6.04:1 overall ratio that delivers strong launch acceleration yet provides “tall” overdrive ratios that decrease engine rpm to enhance fuel economy and reduce noise levels while cruising at highway speeds. Estimates by GM engineers have shown nearly 7 percent improvement in 0-to-60 mph times and up to a 5 percent improvement in fuel efficiency.

CTS: The 2007 CTS extends the impressive record of success for Cadillac’s popular and distinctive luxury sport sedan. Built on GM’s acclaimed and Cadillac exclusive luxury rear-wheel drive structure, CTS set the groundwork for the award-winning SRX and standout STS. As a result of its design and performance, CTS has become a long-term sales success for Cadillac, with annual sales increasing through the car’s first four model years in the marketplace, an industry rarity.

For 2007, the CTS adds OnStar’s Connections and Directions to its NavTraffic service. Connections and Directions features access to driving directions, vehicle diagnostics, remote door unlock, stolen vehicle location assistance, concierge services and much more.

CTS-V: The 400-horsepower (298 kW) CTS-V is the founding member of Cadillac’s V-Series, a club of exclusive vehicles that represent the full expression of Cadillac performance and luxury.

Designed to compete with the world’s absolute best high-performance sedans, CTS-V is the production counterpart to Cadillac’s CTS-V race car that is the defending champion in the SPEED World Challenge GT series.

Based on Cadillac’s performance-oriented rear-drive luxury architecture, CTS-V is a highly refined high-performance luxury sedan. The CTS-V features a 6.0L V-8 engine with a six-speed manual transmission and performance-tuned suspension, as well as numerous exterior and interior design touches.

Cadillac Product Line Highlights for 2004

CADILLAC PRODUCT RESURGENCE CONTINUES WITH TWO ALL-NEW MODELS FOR 2004

For the 2004 model year, the breakthrough era of Cadillac vehicles reaches full flight with two all-new entries in new segments – the XLR luxury roadster and SRX luxury utility.

In addition, 2004 ushers in new varieties of some of Cadillac’s most significant products, with the CTS-V performance version, the new Platinum version of the Escalade ESV and a special armored version of the DeVille, available in both standard sedan and stretch models.

“This is a truly historic time for Cadillac,” said Mark LaNeve, Cadillac general manager. “The complete Cadillac lineup for the 2004 model year is more compelling than at any time in the past 50 years. The product renaissance we began several years ago is now in full force.”

Here’s an overview of Cadillac’s 2004 product offerings:

XLR. The Cadillac XLR brings a striking new presence to the elite luxury roadster class with its dynamic design, advanced technology and a unique blend of luxury and performance. The performance-oriented chassis and structure, and an all-new 4.6L Northstar V-8 VVT rear-wheel drive engine make it the lightest, most powerful vehicle in its class. Bold and edgy, yet elegant and refined, the XLR’s linear, crisp design creates a dramatic presence and modern icon for luxury and performance. Yet it still pays tribute to the marque’s rich history. The XLR offers the ultimate convenience of a retractable hard top. By pushing and holding a single button, the XLR can convert from coupe to open roadster in less than 30 seconds. Compared to soft-top convertibles, a retractable hardtop is quieter with the top up, more secure and more visually pleasing. XLR also features a head-up display, adaptive cruise control, Magnetic Ride Control, StabiliTrak, heated and cooled seats, Keyless Access with push-button start and DVD navigation and entertainment. It appears at dealerships in summer 2003.

SRX. The bold, breakthrough styling of the SRX instantly announces Cadillac’s arrival in the medium luxury utility segment. This all-new vehicle brings a heightened level of performance and flexibility to the segment, is based on GM’s acclaimed new Sigma architecture and is available in both rear-wheel-drive (RWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) applications. The SRX uses the next-generation 4.6L Northstar V-8 VVT (variable valve timing) or the all-new 3.6L V-6 VVT. A near 50-50 weight distribution, a low center of gravity, outstanding powertrain combinations and a host of the latest vehicle stability technologies contribute to make SRX a rare utility vehicle that is, at its core, fun to drive. Chassis management and vehicle control systems on the SRX offer a high level of sophistication and help the vehicle respond accordingly to virtually all types of driving conditions. Features include the latest four-channel StabiliTrak active suspension control and available segment-first Magnetic Ride Control. The electronically controlled magnetic-fluid based real-time damping is the world’s fastest-reacting suspension control system. SRX offers an optional third row seat to hold up to seven passengers and appears at dealerships in fall 2003.

CTS. Fashioned from Cadillac’s edgy, bold design vocabulary, first-year CTS sales were strong, at 37,976, well ahead of the 30,000 units projected for 2002. For the 2004 model year, the CTS-V will debut, which will become the most powerful car in Cadillac’s lineup ever. CTS-V will be available in late ’03. Also for 2004, the already successful CTS sedan will get an all-new, more powerful 3.6L V-6 VVT engine on automatic transmission models, incorporating features and technology packaged to deliver high performance and refinement. In addition, the CTS also features suspension and interior changes for the 2004 model year.

DeVille. The DeVille gains heated and cooled seats and a heated steering wheel for 2004, along with new exterior colors. The DeVille also debuts a state-of-the-art armored edition for 2004. Designed to provide an added level of security, this extraordinary DeVille is intended for executives, officials and others who may require a high level of protection as they travel. The armored DeVille is available in both standard sedan and 8-inch stretch models, with a range of options to suit individual customer requirements.

Seville. The 2004 model year is one of transition for Seville. In May 2003, Cadillac discontinues the STS model to make way for the all-new Sigma-architecture based 2005 STS performance sedan, which begins production in summer 2004. As a result, the only Seville for the 2004 model year will be the SLS, which will be unchanged from the 2003 version and also will end production in December 2003. In addition, Cadillac will retire the Seville nameplate after the SLS ends production.

Escalade. An instant hit with professional athletes, musicians, movie stars and automotive enthusiasts, Escalade’s self-assured stance and strong lines have attracted younger, affluent buyers to Cadillac, inspired song lyrics and created quite an impressive following. The 2003 model year was one of marked change for the award-winning Escalade. For 2004, subtle refinements and new standard equipment improve the marque.

Escalade EXT. A sport utility truck, with elements of a luxury SUV and pickup truck, the Escalade EXT is a bold symbol of Cadillac’s reinvigoration. Like Escalade, it is exposing the division to new generations and categories of buyers who might not have considered a Cadillac in the past.

Escalade ESV. Cadillac adds the ESV Platinum Edition to its newest Escalade ESV variant. This luxurious offspring is the roomiest, most powerful full-size luxury SUV available, and moves Cadillac into an all-new area of this growing market. The Platinum Edition features the most lavishly appointed interior available in an Escalade.
