Tweetups — Socializing the (new) old fashioned way

GM Texas and Brandon Williams organized a Tweetup in Flower Mound, Texas tonight at Agave Tex Mex Restaurant.

A Tweetup is an in-person meeting among people who otherwise associate via Twitter.  So it is kind of like a regional car meet, where bloggers / enthusiasts in the region get together to socialize, share common interests, etc.  This particular tweetup is called FMTweetup, as it is held monthly in Flower Mound, Texas.  This month the special guest was Jane Devin of findingmyamerica.com, who is in Texas as part of her year long writing journey.

Jane jokingly suggests that any person who is to be photographed should have 1st refusal right of review for any resulting photograph.  I think that this is the approved one, except that I cropped and scaled it for use here in the blog.

The event was well attended, with a variety of Bloggers / Twitterers / interested parties in attendance.  GM Texas played host.  The restaurant, Agave, was terrific, and the ambiance and setup were ideal for socializing.  Not exactly in my neighborhood, but close enough.   I received a pen/light/air gauge set from GM as swag.

This was the first Tweetup I have attended, but I found it was a good way to get to know people you only otherwise interact with online, and I enjoyed meeting everyone.  As I often find, meeting people in person you already ‘know’ online makes it easy to socialize.
