Shifting to 4 cylinders

Many auto manufacturers are shifting toward smaller and more economical engines.  Luckily GM Powertrain has an excellent inline-4 turbo engine called the Ecotec.  This engine is used in the kappa cars — the Saturn Sky Redline, the Pontiac Solstice GXP, and the Opel GT.

It makes 260hp and 260 lb-ft of torque, so almost the same HP output as the FWD Northstar V8.  The torque curve on this engine is basically flat from 2500-5200 rpm, so it is a stump puller.

Should this engine be used in Cadillacs?  YES.   Put this in the base CTS NOW as a replacement for the non-DI 3.6L or as an optional engine.

Caddyinfo Site Map / Information and Links

There are actually 3 login/sites in our network, driven by their location on different servers in order to ‘spread the load’.

www.caddyinfo.com is the homepage which links our various sites/locations and has a lot of how-to and FAQ info.

caddyinfo.ipbhost.com is the forum

gallery.caddyinfo.com is a photo gallery.

drupal.caddyinfo.com is a content management system
The drupal system is easier to post things like html, or sometimes I use it to post images instead of the gallery if I also want to post some text specific to the image. So for example if I am posting a photo essay on a fix I would go to drupal.caddyinfo.com. If I were posting pics of my car with a brief description I would put those on the gallery.

Feel free to ignore the other sites and just enjoy the forum if you prefer. But they are available to everyone for reading, and to Supporters for posting pics on the gallery or technical articles on the drupal site (or images there are easy to post also) if you choose to use them.

lastly, my current blog site is www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress (here) which has notes on plans, thoughts, updates, etc.

Caddyinfo Supporters please PM or email me and I will setup your ID on drupal.caddyinfo.com and gallery.caddyinfo.com

Yes, it would be better/ideal if you had one login/password and it played on any Caddyinfo site. But we don’t. I find that once I have each site setup then it becomes a non-issue.

Saturdays are for fun things

Today I am hoping to find a better solution for garage lighting.  Our garage has a single overhead light and I would like to have complete lighting so I can use the garage after dark for car cleanup or mechanicing as needed.

Otherwise I need to police the inside of the CTS a bit and get it up to the standard of the outside.  I still have my wooden steering wheel project on hold, but too many non-Cadillac things planned for today to work that in.
