New Escalades Fueled Cadillac November Sales

Even the mighty SRX could not keep pace for November, but Escalade sales were up a nice 91.5% (notes reflect deliveries up 75%).

The ELR continues over 1K sold, so there’s a milestone for the Electric Cadillac.

Otherwise hard to see much good news for Cadillac sales in November.  The ATS Coupe is just hitting dealers, so that will help going forward.

Cadillac Notes from the Release:

Cadillac:

  • Cadillac Escalade deliveries were up 75 percent, with the retail days supply very tight at 16 days.

  • Sales of the CTS sedan increased 18 percent.

Cadillac Sales: Crossovers and Trucks Do Well in June

The Cadillac SRX continued to dominate Cadillac Sales in June at 4,652 sold, followed by Escalade sales which were not quite 3K.   Clearly the market for luxury cross-overs and trucks has recovered somewhat in this period of relatively low gas prices.

Cadillac notes in the GM press release:

Cadillac sales were up, with Escalade up 57 percent and SRX up 19 percent. It was Cadillac’s best June since 2008, and 57 percent of customers did not trade in a Cadillac.

Cadillac’s sedan sales were down, with total sales led by ATS, CTS, and XTS in that order.  ATS sales were down 32%, CTS 10%, and XTS 24%.  The ATS Coupe is just reaching the market.  Cadillac is making changes to the logo to drop the wreath on new sedans.  No word of other substantial changes to address slow sedan sales.

The Cadillac ELR had its best month yet at 97 delivered to happy new Electric Cadillac owners.   Dealers are offering substantial discounts on new ELRs which bring the pricing down from the $75-82K sticker.  The ELR would have been well placed price-wise at $55K.

Cadillac Sales Summary

Where are the new V-Series?  Cadillac is missing the long-expected ATS-V and the updated CTS-V.  Although these would sell around 15-20% of each line, they offer some halo appeal.   People are drawn into the showroom or sales consideration by  fire-breathing, athletic Cadillac models, even if they “settle” for a less expensive selection.

Cadillac can address ATS sales by getting the model priced aggressively.    Get the 2.5L standard model under $30K to compete there.  Get the fully loaded premium 2L Turbo under $40K, and the 3.6L Premium under $45.  The ATS as the entry level small Cadillac should not cost almost as much at the upper line CTS (!!).

What do you think?  How would you improve sedan sales within the year?

Cadillac Sales Mark Best May Monthly Since 2007

Cadillac May sales featured strong SRX sales, and steady CTS sales.  Escalade had a good month, while XTS soldiers on.image

DETROIT – Cadillac’s U.S. sales showed continued growth with an increase of 6.4 percent in May, the best May since 2007. More than half of Cadillac buyers in May were new to the brand, not trading in a Cadillac vehicle.

The SRX crossover continues to sell at a record pace through the first five months of 2014, increasing 27 percent year over year. May also marked the best May ever in total and retail sales for the SRX.

With the next-generation 2015 Escalade on sale for a full month, total sales increased 30.3 percent year over year. The Escalade recorded its best May in total sales since 2008 and best May retail sales since 2007.

The 2014 Cadillac CTS sport sedan sales increased 39 percent year over year in May. The brand estimates the CTS has gained an additional 1 percentage point of market share in its midsize luxury car segment. The 2014 CTS has been named Motor Trend Car of the Year, one of Car and Driver’s 10 Best, Road & Track’s 2013 Luxury Car, an Edmunds.com Top Rated Vehicle and an Automobile Magazine 2014 All-Star.

“Cadillac’s elevated product portfolio continues to drive growth and attract new buyers to the brand,” said Bill Peffer, Cadillac U.S. vice president for sales and service. “And our continued growth last month marks our best May since 2007.”

Earlier this spring, Cadillac was also rated highest in customer satisfaction with dealer service among luxury brands by J.D. Power and named a J.D. Power 2014 Customer Champion.
