Cadillac June Sales signal a strong Summer

Cadillac June sales were strong — breaking a trend heading into the summer. CTS broke 5K cars, SRX broke 4K, so the main producers brought their game.  With the XTS shipping and the Cadillac ATS on the way at the end of the summer this is a great time for the CTS and SRX to continue strong sales.

The Cadillac XTS was not in the showroom early enough to really shine, but 753 sold immediately on arrival basically.  That’s a good sign for the few days they were in the showroom — as late as last week some dealers were just getting their first XTS.

Cadillac June Sales Summary

“Across the board, June was a strong month for GM,” said Kurt McNeil, vice president, U.S. Sales Operations. “The combination of new products, available credit, lower fuel prices and modest economic growth was a stronger influence on consumer behavior than economic and political uncertainty.”

For the month, GM passenger car sales were up 12 percent year over year, thanks to a 32 percent increase in Chevrolet Malibu sales and a 21 percent increase in Buick LaCrosse sales.

Combined sales of all seven Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac crossovers were up 30 percent versus a year ago

Cadillac XTS headed for delivery in June

Cadillac continues to bump along on sales, as the Cadillac XTS is almost on the showroom, and the Cadillac ATS is screaming in at the end of the summer.

CTS held at over 4K/month, and SRX was close to that figure.  Escalade was down 100 since last year.

The last few STS’s cleared the pattern, and 75 more DTS’s found new homes.  So certainly by bleeding the showrooms dry Cadillac gave those models every chance to move inventory.  Also, although sales were down 15% year over year, they were only down 2.9% for retail sales.  So the big drop was in low margin fleet and rental sales.

First half sales are hopefully just the darkness before the dawn of the new models arriving in 2nd half (hey, it’s second half now).

Started shipping XTS and Dealers will start delivering those in June!

Cadillac CTS leads April 2012 Sales

Sales for the Cadillac CTS were flat to this period last year, and sales for the Cadillac SRX were down slightly.

Oddly the summary GM announcement says “Other highlights include a 7 percent year-over-year increase for the Cadillac CTS sedan, …” but they perhaps mean retail sales as opposed to totals sales?
