Cadillac CTS Coupe adds Standard Model

When the 2011 Cadillac CTS Coupe was initially planned, Performance and Premium Models were planned for RWD and for AWD V6 Coupes, and the CTS-V V8 Coupe.

In May a 1SB ‘Standard’ Model of the CTS Coupe joined the Performance and Premium models.  This “1SB CTS Coupe” is now the least expensive offering.  It still includes the 304 hp 3.6L DI V6 engine, FE2 Sport suspension, and Stabilitrak.  One assumes it trades some features for a lower price point.   The Standard 1SB CTS Coupe only comes with Automatic Transmission.

I liked the original offering of only Performance and Premium Models, but more choices are always good for the Consumer.  There may be Buyers who are stretching to get into a Cadillac CTS Coupe, and want to trade some amenities for that low price point.  More power to them if this change helps them get into the CTS Coupe and enjoy the Cadillac Experience.

Cadillac CTS Coupe Attention

Lots of Cadillac CTS Coupe test drive articles out this morning.   The good news is that the excitement about the Cadillac CTS Coupe continues — anytime Cadillac is getting good press is good news because it opens the discussion to Drivers who might not previously have realized they should be in a Cadillac.

The CTS Coupe is tuned differently from the CTS Sedan, with a more aggressive final drive ratio for somewhat better acceleration — not clear how much yet — and responsiveness during cruising.  It is elegantly styled.  So it is not just a CTS Sedan with 2 doors, but it does share a lot of themes with the Sedan, just less rear head room.

The Cadillac CTS Coupe is likely to bring more Buyers into Cadillac showrooms, where they may discover that the 4-door CTS Sedan, or SRX, or CTS Sport Wagon is really what they need.

The Best Cadillac

The BEST Cadillac is the one that fits your lifestyle.

Some Cadillac Drivers are all about having the fastest sedan in the world, and the Cadillac CTS-V fits.

Other Cadillac Drivers need luxury and performance and to carry 7, or to tow, or to occasionally get offroad to survey land, and the Escalade family is the best choice.

Some Cadillac Drivers want to seat 4/5, maximum luxury, and the Cadillac SRX or Cadillac Sport Wagon fill those needs in different ways.  They differ in their approach, handling, seating, and appearance, so each appeals to slightly different Buyers.

The Cadillac DTS attracts Buyers who want a larger sedan, with elegant luxury and a V8 engine.  The Cadillac STS offers similar space, with luxury appointments and RWD.

The Cadillac CTS Sedan is a great selection for Cadillac Buyers who want a balanced package — sport, luxury, efficiency, style.  The new Cadillac CTS Coupe is more highly styled, and offers that 2-door look that some Drivers prefer.

What is the right Cadillac for you?  The one that fits your lifestyle, fills your needs in a luxury automobile, and delivers that luxury and performance mix that just hits the spot.

There are no bad choices in the current Cadillac line.  If you have not driven a Cadillac lately, you owe it to yourself to stop by your local Cadillac Dealer and get a taste of American luxury.
