Cadillac Escalade Year to Year Changes

New For 1999 Escalade
Cadillac introduced Escalade as a 1999 model in the fall of 1998 as the first vehicle in a multi-year, multi-product strategy to establish a credible presence in the sport-utility market. The addition of Escalade broadens the appeal of the Cadillac brand by building awareness, consideration and purchase appeal among younger, affluent customers, particularly women.

For 2002, Escalade expands its offerings with three distinct versions: all-wheel drive, two-wheel drive and a Middle East export version. The eight-passenger Escalade, based on GM’s 1500 Series SUV, debuts in 2001 as a 2002 model. The '02 Escalade will be the first Cadillac to wear the updated wreath and crest emblem.

  • Standard roof-mounted head curtain side air bags and StabiliTrak stability control system with new rollover mitigation technology
  • New radio family, including available navigation radio with touch-screen controls
  • A myriad of luxury features including factory-installed 22-inch chrome wheels, climate-controlled front seats, power fold-and-tumble second-row seats, remote start, power articulating running boards, power liftgate and IntelliBeam headlamps

  • The ’07 Escalade is powered by a new, 6.2L all-aluminum small-block V-8 with variable valve timing technology (VVT). The 6.2L engine is rated at 403 horsepower (301 kw)* at 5700 rpm and 417 lb.-ft. of torque (565 Nm)* at 4400 rpm; it is teamed with a new Hydra-Matic 6L80 six-speed automatic transmission with Driver Shift Control (tap up/tap down).
