Trunk Won't Close

ANSWER:
Had a similar problem on my 96 STS, it turned out to just be excess moisture on the motor that pulls down the lid, here may be a couple of ideas, first check the fuse, it should be in the fuse panel in the trunk, you pull back the carpet material that is against the left part of your backseat inside the trunk.
Next if it is not the fuse, check for debris or moisture around the latch motor that pulls the lid down and move the motor gently with a screwdriver (but gently). I did not have to replace mine, as after removing the plastic lip that covers it over I discovered a lot of excess moisture so i simply dried the area up and pulled apart the electrical connection at the male female joint and dried it out...
