STS has new front and rear body color low fascias with a black bead and body-color rocker molding, also with a black bead. 16 inch wheels and 215/60R16 tires introduced.  STS gets 6KY69 separate body style code.

4.9L engine for 200 hp, 275 ft-lbs of torque at 3,000 rpm, and 4T60-e transmission.  STS gets 3.33:1 final drive, base Seville 2.97:1 final drive.  Rear transverse leaf springs, and single transverse muffler. STS gets new blue-tinted outside rearview mirrors standard, and revised seating. Rear console eliminated to accommodate a third, center rear seat passenger.  STS has 23mm front and 16mm rear stabilizer bars, 16 in wheels with Goodyear eagle GT4 P215/60R16's. 1993 STS gets Northstar 4.6L DOHC engine 295 hp, 290 ft-lbs of torque, and 3.71:1 final drive.  Northstar comes with beefier 4T80-e transmission, speed sensitive steering, multi-link short/long arm rear suspension with coil springs, and dual mufflers.  High density poly-ethylene fuel tank replaces former welded steel tank to improve crash worthiness and corrosion resistance.  New engine and transmission add around 100 lbs.  Base Seville stays with 4.9L OHV engine for 200 hp, and 2.97:1 final drive.  STS gets Bosch ASRIIU traction control system.  STS gets solar control glass, and two new exterior colors: Academy Gray and Dark Cherry Red Metallic.  P225/60R16 wheels/tires.  Dual air bags.  Cup holder appears in armrest.  Body colored side mirror covers.

Standard Seville renamed Seville SLS (Seville Luxury Sedan) and gets 270 hp Northstar, 4T80-e transmission and 3.11:1 final drive.  Road sensing suspension.  Revised style steering wheel/airbag.  Integral heater/blower control module.

Northstar redesigned intake adds 5 hp.  Base Seville has 275 hp Northstar, STS now has 300 hp Northstar.

Redesigned interior.  Center console better integrated.  OBD II electronics -- more things are checked, but aftermarket 'chips' not longer available.  Rain Sense wipers are added, which automatically alter wiper speed.  Slight weight reduction as some sensors are replaced.  Steering-wheel mounted controls for entertainment and environmental controls. Continuously Variable Road Sensing Suspension alters suspension firmness settings based on vehicle dynamics and speed.  Coolant fill switches to Dexcool long-life coolant.

StabiliTrak™added which prevents the STS from spinning.  CV-RSS added to SLS as standard equipment. All models benefit from increased front brake size (from 11.0" to 11.9"), aluminum steering knuckles (to reduce weight), redesigned front control arm and bushing (to soften road impact harshness), and extensive chassis stiffening and gussetting (to improve Noise/Vibration/Harshness NVH). HVAC and radio VF lighting increased in intensity to aid in viewing in direct sunlight. French seams added to all leather stitching on interior seating surfaces.

All new car redesign -- interior and exterior as Seville moves from K-body chassis to G-body Aurora Chassis.  Seville becomes quieter, more solid with less vibration at the cost of 100 lbs of added weight.  Overall length down from 204.1 to 201 in but wheelbase up from 111 to 112.2.  Track up from 60.9 to 62.7/62.3 in.   Projection beam headlights.  Bose audio 4.0 system improves the entertainment system by a level of magnitude.  Performance algorithm shifting allows the transmission to behave/perform more like a manual transmission.  STS gets power tilt and telescoping steering column.  5mm thick door glass reduces noise.    Adaptive seating via a network of 10 air cells located in the front bucket seats automatically recognizes occupant position and adjusts the seats support to custom-fit every individual.

Option added for massaging seats.

Northstar redesigned to operate on regular unleaded.  Compression drops from 10.3:1 to 10.0:1. Upgraded StabiliTrak™. Navigation System (Option on STS and SLS) provides a central video screen, and maps by region; CD based. New Exterior Colors: Midnight Blue and Bronzemist.
STS redline increased to 6700 rpm; SLS stays at 6500 rpm.

Infotainment with Bose audio system (Option on STS) adds email access. Available Sport package combines several desirable options.  High Intensity Discharge headlights (Option on STS) provides brighter head lights.  Tire pressure monitor (Option on STS) detect low air in tires. Manual trunk release mechanism prevents owner getting locked into the trunk if car-jacked. New services from OnStar*.  Next generation Rainsense Wiper System automatically turns on the wipers as needed in addition to setting wiper blade speed. Torque-sensing express-up driver and front passenger windows allows window-up with one button press without the hazard of catching something in the window mechanism. 17" chrome wheels appearance option. New exterior colors: Graphite and Sequoia. New interior colors: Dark Grey replaces Pewter  *Was not be available at start of '01 production.

Advanced DVD based Vehicle Navigation system available. XM Satellite Radio*            Next-generation MagneRide* MR replaces Cadillac’s continuously variable road-sensing suspension (CVRSS) struts, and offers superior handling, control and ride quality on the roughest road surfaces.  It minimizes damping forces as needed for improved road isolation and ride smoothness.  Factory engine oil fill to GF3 oil specifications allows extended oil and filter change interval to 12,500 miles.  The GF3 specification results in a .5 to 1 percent increase in fuel economy and a 40 percent reduction in oil consumption.  Enhanced optional Navigation System - the system uses DVD technology and provides more detailed coverage and convenience than the CD-based system it replaces.  Exterior color – Blue Onyx. Cadillac’s redesigned wreath and crest emblem will grace the grille emblem, keys, CHMSL, steering wheel and engine top cover.  Upgraded Radio Data System (RDS) functionality. Integration kit for tri-band cellular phone*.       * Not be available at start of 2002 production

Northstar redesigned to add steel crankshaft instead of iron, and Gryphal coating for the pistons to decrease friction and wear.  Magnetic ride control finally actually available (shown in 02, but appears in 03?).  Two new exterior colors.  Michelin tires standard on SLS (225/60R16) and STS (235/55R17) (replacing previous Goodyear OEM tires).  Chrome wheels standard on STS. The Seville SLS gets a freshened exterior look in 2003. Body-colored grille and foglamps added to the SLS complete a monochromatic strategy for Seville.
