1996 STS Test Runs:
8/4/2000 Hot day, Car hot: G/Tech Pro 183 hp max at wheels in First gear; 7.20 sec & 7.21 sec 0-60 mph with Traction Control on. Temp 98F/Humid 37/Press 29.99.
8/5/2000 Hot day, Car cool. G/Tech Pro 6.90 sec 0-60 mph, 15.19@95.7 mph (includes -3 mph for G/Tech to Track correction). Temp 92F, Humid 49%, Barometer 30.02, Test weight (3890 lb STS + Driver - Gas at 1/4 tank) 4100 lbs. Traction control on, but avoided wheelspin.
Cartech Predicted: 7.0 sec 0-60, 15.3@94.1 mph with the test conditions and weight. Roaddyno reading had too many errors to display.2/10/2001 Cold Day, Car Cool. Added K&N filter; [big difference due to to the temperature, not due to the filter]. Traction control on, Gearshift in OD. G/Tech Pro 6.43 sec 0-60 mph, 14.78@101.4 mph. Backup 0-60 mph measure at 6.37 sec to validate.
G-Tech HP Measurements: weight set to 4,100 lbs (3,892 car + 225 driver +- 6 lbs/gal of gas): Temp 74 F. Top of 1st gear: 180-188 hp; Top of second gear 205-220 hp. This is more or less what you might expect from a car with 300 net hp at the crank. First gear has more losses at 2.96:1 than second at 1.63:1. Ideal would be to test in the top of third, but that is at 143 mph, so not possible at my test sites. HP at the wheels should be 75-80% of net at the crank for an automatic. HP in second should be 20-30 hp less than hp in third (1:1). So my reading of 220/.8 = 270 hp at the crank in second gear is reasonable for a car with 300 hp.
4/15/2001 First tests with Race Technology AP-22: 0-60 in 6.86, 6.94, 7.11 seconds. Heat 75F. Car hot from 4 hour road trip
