{"id":6968,"date":"2010-04-10T06:48:59","date_gmt":"2010-04-10T12:48:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/?p=6968"},"modified":"2010-04-10T06:48:59","modified_gmt":"2010-04-10T12:48:59","slug":"cadillac-v-series-turning-it-up-to-11","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/cadillac-v-series-turning-it-up-to-11\/","title":{"rendered":"Cadillac V-Series Turning it up to 11"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At Cadillac, V stands for Velocity.<\/p>\n<p>What happens when Cadillac takes one of their current sports luxury sedans and turns the volume up to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=F7IZZXQ89Oc\" target=\"_blank\">11<\/a>?\u00a0 A Cadillac V-Series Model.<\/p>\n<p>What is the Cadillac recipe for the V-Series?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>More Power &#8212; swap in one of the most powerful engines available<\/li>\n<li>More Handling &#8212; Tune the Suspension &amp;\u00a0 wheels\/tires.\u00a0 If a &#8216;normal&#8217; base Cadillac suspension is FE1, Luxury models get an improved, tuned FE2 suspension.\u00a0 This brings different shock\/strut tuning, and sometimes anti-roll bar tuning. Performance models get summer tires and the FE3 suspension.\u00a0 The V-Series gets FE4 tuning, which tends to be a\u00a0 road &amp; track setup.<\/li>\n<li>More Brakes &#8212; rapid, fade-free stopping power.\u00a0 Most sports cars and sports luxury cars can stop rapidly.\u00a0 But when are driving at the limit one is on and off the brakes frequently through the corners, and the brakes rapidly heat up, and begin to fade.\u00a0 The V-Series receive high performance, cooled braking setups for maximum stopping power, lap after lap.<\/li>\n<li>Unique branding, markings, and distinction.\u00a0 This seems trivial, but when you care enough to purchase the best vehicle available, it is nice to have reminders of just what your vehicle is capable of.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Let&#8217;s look at the examples Cadillac has accomplished to date:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2004-2007 1st Generation CTS-V:\u00a0 Added 400 hp LS6 (04\/05), then LS2 (06\/07) V8 engine.\u00a0 Tuned sport suspension (FE4), with a track suspension (FG2) available as a dealer-installed option.\u00a0 Brembo 4-piston caliper brakes front &amp; rear.\u00a0 Only 6-speed manual transmissions.\n<p><div id=\"attachment_5715\" style=\"width: 1034px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/2007CTSV.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5715\" class=\"size-large wp-image-5715 \" title=\"2007 Cadillac CTS-V\" src=\"http:\/\/caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/2007CTSV-1024x681.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"681\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/2007CTSV-1024x681.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/2007CTSV-500x332.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-5715\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">2007 Cadillac CTS-V<\/p><\/div><\/li>\n<li>2006-2009 STS-V:\u00a0 Added 469 hp LC3 4.4L Supercharged Northstar engine.\u00a0 The engine was actually lowered in the chassis in order to give a lower center of gravity when compared with the non-V STS.\u00a0 Tuned sport suspension (FE4).\u00a0 Although the MR suspension was available, the Sachs tuned shocks gave just a bit of an edge on the track at the time, and were selected.\u00a0 Brembo 4-piston caliper brakes front &amp; rear.\u00a0 New 6-speed Automatic transmission introduced.\n<p><div id=\"attachment_4157\" style=\"width: 730px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/09-4.4L-V8-LC3-STS-V-LoR_n.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4157\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4157\" title=\"09 4.4L V8 LC3 STS-V LoR_n\" src=\"http:\/\/caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/09-4.4L-V8-LC3-STS-V-LoR_n.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"576\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/09-4.4L-V8-LC3-STS-V-LoR_n.jpg 720w, http:\/\/www.caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/09-4.4L-V8-LC3-STS-V-LoR_n-500x400.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-4157\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Supercharged Northstar<\/p><\/div><\/li>\n<li>2006-2009 XLR-V: Added 440 hp LC3 4.4L Supercharged Northstar engine.\u00a0 Tuned sport suspension (FE4).\u00a0\u00a0 Because the XLR already shared the Corvette chassis\/platform, sporty handling was already in its DNA.\u00a0 The XLR-V and the STS-V were both originally specced at 440 hp, but with a bit of additional room under the domed hood the STS-V was tuned just before certification to 469 hp.\n<p><div id=\"attachment_6993\" style=\"width: 1034px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/xlr-v_sts-v.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6993\" class=\"size-large wp-image-6993\" title=\"xlr-v_sts-v\" src=\"http:\/\/caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/xlr-v_sts-v-1024x669.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"669\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/xlr-v_sts-v-1024x669.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/xlr-v_sts-v-500x326.jpg 500w, http:\/\/www.caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/xlr-v_sts-v.jpg 1126w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-6993\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Cadillac XLR-V (left) and STS-V (right)<\/p><\/div><\/li>\n<li>2009 2nd Generation CTS-V: Added 556 hp LSA 6.2L Supercharged V8.\u00a0 Tuned sport suspension (FE4). 6-piston Brembo brakes front, and 4-piston in rear.
