{"id":3431,"date":"2009-12-17T19:08:47","date_gmt":"2009-12-18T00:08:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/?p=3431"},"modified":"2009-12-21T10:07:37","modified_gmt":"2009-12-21T15:07:37","slug":"wine-chateau-cadillac-bordeaux-superieur","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wine-chateau-cadillac-bordeaux-superieur\/","title":{"rendered":"Wine: Chateau Cadillac Bordeaux Superieur"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Antoine Laumet was born in St. Nicholas de la Grave in France in 1658.\u00a0 Once he arrived in the new world, he developed a terrific knowledge of the coasts of New England and the Great Lakes.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/250px-Military_order_of_Saint_Louis-Knight_cross_IMG_3512.JPG\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3482\" style=\"margin: 2px;\" title=\"250px-Military_order_of_Saint_Louis-Knight_cross_IMG_3512\" src=\"http:\/\/caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/250px-Military_order_of_Saint_Louis-Knight_cross_IMG_3512.JPG\" alt=\"250px-Military_order_of_Saint_Louis-Knight_cross_IMG_3512\" width=\"250\" height=\"254\" \/><\/a>This earned him various favors, including the Order of Saint Louis from King Louis XIV of France.<\/p>\n<p>When he got married in 1687 he was listed as <strong>Antoine de la Mothe, Sieur de Cadillac<\/strong>, son of Jean de la Mothe, Sieur de Cadillac, de Launay et de Semontel and Jeanne de Malenfant.<\/p>\n<p>Later he wrote &#8220;I did not create this identity out of nowhere&#8221;, although many historians suggest this is pretty much what he did.\u00a0 Antoine Laumet likely remembered Sylvestre d&#8217;Esparbes de Lussan de Gout, baron of Lamothe-Bardigues, lord of Cadillac, Launay and Le Moutet; adviser to the Parliament of Toulouse. He knew him for at least two reasons: Bardigues, Cadillac, Launay and Le Moutet all are villages and localities close to his birthplace, St Nicolas-de-la-Grave, and his father Jean Laumet was a lawyer in the Parliament of Toulouse. [<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Antoine_Laumet_de_La_Mothe,_sieur_de_Cadillac\" target=\"_blank\">wikipedia<\/a>]<\/p>\n<p>When Henry Leland and the board of directors of the car company he was helping save were looking for a name for the new company, they named it after the Founder of Detroit, Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac, or <strong><em>Cadillac<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0 So the car company was named after the founder of Detroit, who took the name of a French nobleman Lussan de Gout, baron of Lamothe-Bardigues, lord of Cadillac, whose name refers to a location in France in the Bordeaux region.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3461\" style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.vignobles-lesgourgues.com\/page.php?page=cadillac_presentation\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3461\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3461 \" title=\"cadillac_1\" src=\"http:\/\/caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/cadillac_1-520x390.jpg\" alt=\"Chateau Cadillac\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/cadillac_1-520x390.jpg 520w, http:\/\/www.caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/cadillac_1.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-3461\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Chateau Cadillac<\/p><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cadillac,_Gironde\" target=\"_blank\">Cadillac<\/a> France was founded in 1280 to act as a river port for a nearby Castle of Benauges.\u00a0 Chateau Cadillac is one of the oldest chateaux in the Bordeaux region. Cadillac is located southeast of the city of Bordeaux.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Geographically, <em>Cadillac<\/em> is a logical part of the large Premieres Cotes de Bordeaux appellation, but the presence of chalk and gravel soils here mark it out as a distinct area, capable of producing wines of particular character. is also used with French wines as an appellation. <\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span onmouseover=\"_tipon(this)\" onmouseout=\"_tipoff()\"> <\/span>There are now two controlled appellations which apply to wines made here &#8211; <em>AOC Cotes de Bordeaux &#8211; Cadillac<\/em>, for red wines and straight <em>AOC Cadillac<\/em> for sweet white wines.<br \/>\nThe area is more famous for its AOC Cadillac wines. These are sweet or medium-sweet white wines, made from Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle, which by law must reach specific levels of residual sugar, and minimum alcohol levels of 12%.<br \/>\nTo qualify for the AOC Cadillac label, wines must be made from grapes be grown in the communes of Baurech, Beguey, <strong>Cadillac<\/strong>, Capian, Cardan, Donzac, Gabarnac, Haux, Langoiran, Laroque, Lestiac, Le Tourne, Monprimblanc, Omet, Paillet, Rions, Saint-Germain-de-Grave, Saint-Maixant, Semens, Tabanac, Verdelais et Villenave-de-Rions.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Certainly <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vignobles-lesgourgues.com\/page.php?page=cadillac_presentation\" target=\"_blank\">Chateau Cadillac wines<\/a> made from grapes grown in the Cadillac region seem to be the &#8220;<em>Cadillac of Wines<\/em>&#8220;.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Antoine Laumet was born in St. Nicholas de la Grave in France in 1658.\u00a0 Once he arrived in the new world, he developed a terrific knowledge of the coasts of New England and the Great Lakes.
