{"id":17463,"date":"2015-08-17T22:06:16","date_gmt":"2015-08-18T03:06:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/?p=17463"},"modified":"2015-08-18T08:41:12","modified_gmt":"2015-08-18T13:41:12","slug":"cadillac-xlr-tuning-test-2-premium-fuel-cooler-air","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/cadillac-xlr-tuning-test-2-premium-fuel-cooler-air\/","title":{"rendered":"Cadillac XLR tuning test 2 &#8211; premium fuel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/IMG_1662.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/IMG_1662.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/a>&nbsp;<br \/>\nI am running a string of tests to establish a baseline for my 2007 Cadillac XLR.&nbsp; The previous test is here: <a title=\"Permalink to Initial Cadillac XLR Hptuners Scanner setup\" href=\"http:\/\/caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/initial-cadillac-xlr-hptuners-scanner-setup\/\" rel=\"bookmark\">Initial Cadillac XLR Hptuners Scanner setup<\/a><\/p>\n<p>That test showed 301 hp at 5734 rpm, 290 lb ft of torque at 4572 rpm.&nbsp; Temp was 95 F.<\/p>\n<p>Tonight&#8217;s test was with premium fuel (newly refilled), and without heat soak.&nbsp; The XLR was warm, having run a set course during the test.&nbsp; Temps locally were 95 F, 102 F into the engine, and 141 F in the manifold.&nbsp; Tonight&#8217;s run and previous were with the top down.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/xlr-premium-2nd-test-first-gear.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-17464\" src=\"http:\/\/caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/xlr-premium-2nd-test-first-gear.png\" alt=\"xlr premium 2nd test first gear\" width=\"436\" height=\"763\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/xlr-premium-2nd-test-first-gear.png 436w, http:\/\/www.caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/xlr-premium-2nd-test-first-gear-371x650.png 371w, http:\/\/www.caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/xlr-premium-2nd-test-first-gear-171x300.png 171w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 436px) 100vw, 436px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Tonight&#8217;s max hp delivered was 309 hp at around 5700 rpm.&nbsp; Delivered Torque max was 298 ft-lb at 4700 rpm.&nbsp; This is slightly better than test 1, and I see by comparing the two that incoming air and manifold air were consistent (I was thinking tonight was cooler). Tonight&#8217;s engine coolant temp was lower at 192 F vs 203 F last night &#8212; unlikely to be a factor.&nbsp; I suspected the XLR was delivered with regular unleaded and was hoping to see a bit more power with premium unleaded.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/xlr-premium-2nd-run-1-2-gear.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-17465\" src=\"http:\/\/caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/xlr-premium-2nd-run-1-2-gear.png\" alt=\"xlr premium 2nd run 1-2 gear\" width=\"640\" height=\"776\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/xlr-premium-2nd-run-1-2-gear.png 640w, http:\/\/www.caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/xlr-premium-2nd-run-1-2-gear-500x606.png 500w, http:\/\/www.caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/xlr-premium-2nd-run-1-2-gear-247x300.png 247w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This table shows 1st gear, the 1-2 gear shift, and 2nd gear pull.&nbsp; 2nd gear has slightly lower although equivalent hp to first.&nbsp; I am assuming these calculations are unaffected by vehicle aerodynamics, but I may be wrong.<\/p>\n<p>Here is the HPtuners scanner shot at max hp:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/XLR-premium-test-2-hptuners.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-17469\" src=\"http:\/\/caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/XLR-premium-test-2-hptuners-1024x697.png\" alt=\"XLR premium test 2 hptuners\" width=\"584\" height=\"398\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/XLR-premium-test-2-hptuners-1024x697.png 1024w, http:\/\/www.caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/XLR-premium-test-2-hptuners-500x340.png 500w, http:\/\/www.caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/XLR-premium-test-2-hptuners-441x300.png 441w, http:\/\/www.caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/XLR-premium-test-2-hptuners.png 1255w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Summary:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Tonight&#8217;s test is very consistent with test 1.&nbsp; With the XLR sitting all day prior to the test and not heat soaked, but with same temp air, the results were slightly (8 hp, 8 ft lb) higher than previous.&nbsp; In the heat there is almost 2 degrees of retard (lost advance) due to incoming air temp advance (gauge in lower right).<\/p>\n<p>Corrected to SAE standard these readings would be higher: &nbsp;Note: The relative horsepower calculations are made in accordance with  SAE J1349.
