{"id":16932,"date":"2013-12-14T22:47:16","date_gmt":"2013-12-15T04:47:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/?p=16932"},"modified":"2013-12-14T22:47:16","modified_gmt":"2013-12-15T04:47:16","slug":"power-ice-delicate-mix","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/power-ice-delicate-mix\/","title":{"rendered":"Power and Ice &#8212; a delicate mix #Motorama"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Although it may seem counter-intuitive, my large, performance-focused rear-wheel drive Cadillac STS-V handled just fine in the ice we got here in the Dallas area.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/IMG_1456.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-16933\" alt=\"IMG_1456\" src=\"http:\/\/caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/IMG_1456-1024x764.jpg\" width=\"584\" height=\"435\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/IMG_1456-1024x764.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/IMG_1456-500x373.jpg 500w, http:\/\/www.caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/IMG_1456-401x300.jpg 401w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>With my Roadster taking up all the warm garage space, the STS-V was left to brave the cold on the driveway, which disappeared under about an inch of ice.<\/p>\n<p>The only issue when we did manage to get out on the roads was ground clearance &#8212; when only ruts were available as traffic dug through the ice and shifted it to the center of the road then the STS-V aero underbelly would plow the center ice a bit.<\/p>\n<p>The Stabilitrak and traction control help with keeping things in hand when they might otherwise get out of hand.\u00a0 I also used the performance manual-automatic shifting option to start in 2nd gear in some cases, making it easier to ease forward off the ice.<\/p>\n<p>As always, let caution be your guide of course, and assume anyone else you see out on the ice needs plenty of room to maneuver.<\/p>\n<p>All in all the STS-V did very well and I would not hesitate to take it out again in foul weather.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Although it may seem counter-intuitive, my large, performance-focused rear-wheel drive Cadillac STS-V handled just fine in the ice we got here in the Dallas area.
