Cadillac Chat in a Google+ Hangout?\u00a0 Count me in!\u00a0 Last evening we had our first CaddyInfo Cadillac Chat using Google+ Hangouts.<\/p>\n
Cadillac Chat Video: <\/iframe><\/p>\n<h2>Using Google+ & Hangouts for Cadillac Chats<\/h2>\n<p>Google+ is Google’s version of Facebook or similar social media site.\u00a0 They are different, but that’s the idea.\u00a0 Google+ has many interesting features, and I am still learning how to take advantage of all of them.<\/p>\n<p>Google+ Hangouts is a service that offers up to 9-way video conferencing with very little setup.\u00a0 Grab your smart phone or webcam, log in, and you are set more or less.\u00a0 You can also participate in a live Cadillac chat with just a mic & audio, or even with just joining and text chat.\u00a0 I have also seen Readers interact by for example adding comments to the video feed in the forum and then we can respond in the live video.<\/p>\n<p>Our chat started slowly (I should have gotten everyone set and working before I started the video broadcast) but once we got going we had a fun time.<\/p>\n<p>We used the Google+ Event planner to plan the Thursday night CaddyInfo Cadillac Chat at 8 PM Central \/ 9 PM Eastern \/ 6 pm Pacific US time.\u00a0 I was surprised that although it prompted us that ‘it was time’, the Hangout then had to be started manually.\u00a0 Now that I know this, okay.<\/p>\n<p>Hangouts on air is a feature that captures the live video conference and sends it to Youtube.\u00a0 There people not in the live conference can watch the video live, and the entire conference is saved a short time after the end of the conference as a Youtube video for later viewing as above.\u00a0 Using this feature I was able to embed the live video feed in <a title=\"CaddyInfo Cadillac Chat\" href=\"http:\/\/caddyinfo.ipbhost.com\/index.php?showtopic=42492&view=getnewpost&hl=\" target=\"_blank\">a post on our CaddyInfo Forum<\/a> so it was easy for Readers to access.<\/p>\n<h2>Improvements for next time<\/h2>\n<p>We had some first night issues — Mike never got video or audio running, but generally things went more or less as planned and we all had fun chatting about Cadillacs.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_16079\" style=\"width: 594px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/hangout_snapshot_0.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-16079\" class=\"size-large wp-image-16079\" alt=\"Hangout Toolbox to the rescue\" src=\"http:\/\/caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/hangout_snapshot_0-1024x700.jpg\" width=\"584\" height=\"399\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/hangout_snapshot_0-1024x700.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/hangout_snapshot_0-500x342.jpg 500w, http:\/\/www.caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/hangout_snapshot_0-438x300.jpg 438w, http:\/\/www.caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/hangout_snapshot_0.jpg 1076w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-16079\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Hangout Toolbox to the rescue<\/p><\/div>\n<p>After the CaddyInfo chat was over I learned how to add and use a Hangouts App to add subtitles showing each person’s name and other info.\u00a0 That will help viewers follow the conversation.<\/p>\n<h2>Summary — Cadillac Chat Accomplished!<\/h2>\n<p>Overall we all had a good time chatting — the key to good Video Chats is likely to have a great group of people in the chat — and plan to continue to do these weekly.<\/p>\n<p>Find me on Google+:\u00a0 <a title=\"Bruce Nunnally of CaddyInfo on Google+\" href=\"https:\/\/plus.google.com\/111669618335209044868\/posts?hl=en-US\" target=\"_blank\">Link<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Schedule for CaddyInfo Cadillac Chats:\u00a0 Thursday evenings at 8 PM Central Time<\/p>\n<p> <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Cadillac Chat in a Google+ Hangout?\u00a0 Count me in!\u00a0 Last evening we had our first CaddyInfo Cadillac Chat using Google+ Hangouts.
