{"id":13865,"date":"2012-07-09T06:15:44","date_gmt":"2012-07-09T11:15:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/?p=13865"},"modified":"2012-07-09T06:31:27","modified_gmt":"2012-07-09T11:31:27","slug":"cadillac-xts-final-thoughts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/cadillac-xts-final-thoughts\/","title":{"rendered":"Cadillac XTS Weekend Test Drive Thoughts, Comments, Reflections"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Cadillac XTS is an excellent choice for a full-size luxury sedan.\u00a0 It has the latest technologies in everything &#8212; power, suspension, braking, entertainment, information.\u00a0 It is truly innovative in the use of CUE &#8212; and every new Cadillac needs this dash display.<\/p>\n<p>This weekend I am test driving a Cadillac XTS courtesy of <a title=\"Crest Cadillac\" href=\"http:\/\/www.crestcars.com\" target=\"_blank\">Crest Cadillac<\/a>.\u00a0 See my other posts \u2014 \u00a0 <a title=\"Pickup\" href=\"http:\/\/caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/cadillac-xts-weekend-test-drive-pickup\/\">Pickup<\/a>, <a title=\"Cadillac XTS at Cars and Coffee\" href=\"http:\/\/caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/cadillac-xts-at-cars-and-coffee-dallas-july-2012\/\">Cadillac XTS at Cars and Coffee<\/a>,<a title=\"Cadillac XTS virtual dyno\" href=\"http:\/\/caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/cadillac-xts-virtual-dyno\/\"> Cadillac XTS Virtual Dyno<\/a>, <a title=\"Cadillac XTS Dash Display\" href=\"http:\/\/caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/cadillac-xts-dash-display\/\" target=\"_blank\">Cadillac XTS Dash Display<\/a>.\u00a0 My test car is a Cadillac XTS with Premium Collection.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_13868\" style=\"width: 594px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/102_1825.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-13868\" class=\"size-large wp-image-13868\" title=\"Cadillac XTS trunk open\" src=\"http:\/\/caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/102_1825-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"Cadillac XTS trunk open\" width=\"584\" height=\"388\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/102_1825-1024x682.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/102_1825-500x333.jpg 500w, http:\/\/www.caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/102_1825-450x300.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-13868\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Cadillac XTS trunk open<\/p><\/div>\n<h2>Highlights<\/h2>\n<p>I didn&#8217;t get to mention in the other XTS weekend test drive posts:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Cadillac XTS has tons of head room.\u00a0 Anyone should fit comfortably in this sedan.<\/li>\n<li>Light pipes on the door handles are slick and allow the handles to light up at night<\/li>\n<li>Interior light in the center console is a very thoughtful touch &amp; makes it easy to find things at night<\/li>\n<li>The 304 hp LFX has several aftermarket options for adding power and tuning now courtesy of its use in the Camaro<\/li>\n<li>The way the door handle works with the keyless remote is different from my V but very functional.\u00a0 The button on the handle locks\/unlocks the door if you have the key fob.<\/li>\n<li>The transmission in the XTS performs very well.\u00a0 I prefer it in sport mode, but with normal or sport or manual shift with paddles on the steering wheel every driver can have the transmission operate the way they want it.<\/li>\n<li>Total integration of vehicle information can&#8217;t be overemphasized.\u00a0 This Cadillac is a thoroughly modern interpretation of the full-size luxury sedan.<\/li>\n<li>Huge Trunk &#8212; the XTS trunk is a new standard in large trunks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Headscratchers:<\/h2>\n<p>Items that made me go hmmm:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Acceleration programmed to be smooth &#8212; the XTS is drive by wire, and even in sport mode the throttle goes to 100% with some minute delay to ensure smoothness.\u00a0 Not perceptible &#8212; I saw it in the data-log.<\/li>\n<li>Missing the premium engine?\u00a0 It is unusual for a Cadillac to only be offered with one power plant.\u00a0 I suspect the actual premium engine is a FWD variant of the upcoming twin turbo 3.6L V6, but it is not ready yet.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>\u00a0Cadillac XTS Summary<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Worth the loot?\u00a0 Yes &#8212; if you want maximum luxury + technology in a full-size Cadillac.<\/li>\n<li>Why would you choose not to buy?
