{"id":12452,"date":"2012-04-22T19:01:32","date_gmt":"2012-04-23T00:01:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/?p=12452"},"modified":"2012-04-25T06:56:15","modified_gmt":"2012-04-25T11:56:15","slug":"initial-iat2-times-with-new-hx-woops","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/initial-iat2-times-with-new-hx-woops\/","title":{"rendered":"Initial IAT2 times with New HX &#8211; woops"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Initial IAT2 trends with the <a title=\"New Intercooler HX install\" href=\"http:\/\/caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/?p=12411\">new Intercooler Heat Exchanger<\/a> appear to be somewhat worse than the OEM intercooler heat exchanger.<\/p>\n<p>This is disappointing since tuners have reported improvements with similar heat exchangers.\u00a0 There may be more variables at play here, but my first tests suggest the new HX as installed is not performing better than the OEM HX.<\/p>\n<p>To compare the two I considered HP Tuners VCM Scanner data captures for the OEM heat exchanger on a hot day (heat soaked) to a similar run with my replacement heat exchanger (a flexalite 45321).\u00a0 IAT1 temps, which is air at the MAF, were similar for each run, but the runs were certainly on different days etc.\u00a0 Thanks to HP Tuners for updating their comma delimited export capability to make this easier!<\/p>\n<p>The first chart shows overall trend over time for my normal data capture run.\u00a0 The spikes are acceleration runs.\u00a0 The X axis is actually the sample time for the scan, which runs from 0-65K so I simply left it off for clarity.\u00a0 The Y axis is IAT2 temps in degrees F.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/NewHXvsOEMallpoints.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-12454\" title=\"NewHXvsOEMallpoints\" src=\"http:\/\/caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/NewHXvsOEMallpoints.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"827\" height=\"535\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/NewHXvsOEMallpoints.png 827w, http:\/\/www.caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/NewHXvsOEMallpoints-500x323.png 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 827px) 100vw, 827px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The new HX appears to reach constant IAT2 around 127F.\u00a0 The OEM HX reached constant IAT2 around 117F.<\/p>\n<p>This is a comparison side by side over time during a 0-60 mph run with each:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/new-HX-vs-OEM-0-60.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-12455\" title=\"new HX vs OEM 0-60\" src=\"http:\/\/caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/new-HX-vs-OEM-0-60.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"759\" height=\"501\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/new-HX-vs-OEM-0-60.png 759w, http:\/\/www.caddyinfo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/new-HX-vs-OEM-0-60-500x330.png 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 759px) 100vw, 759px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The OEM HX starts at a lower temp, but the two HX&#8217;s appear to show similar trends for the expected increase in IAT2&#8217;s during hard acceleration.<\/p>\n<p>It is possible that the system is still not air-free, and I will retest after a week of continued monitoring.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Initial IAT2 trends with the new Intercooler Heat Exchanger appear to be somewhat worse than the OEM intercooler heat exchanger.
