Appreciating the Master Craftsman

Chuck Jordan, former head of Cadillac Design, passed away this month.  Mr Jordan contributed to several important Cadillac designs including the 1959 Cadillac Eldorado and the 1992 Cadillac Seville & STS.  He retired from General Motors in 1992.

1992 Cadillac Seville STS

A 1992 STS was my first contemporary Cadillac, and was a terrific automobile.  That design, which continued with some modifications through 1997, still looks classic to me these 18 years since they first hit the street.

I never met Mr. Jordan, but became aware of him for his role in the book “All Corvettes are Red” by James Schefter.  Nonetheless, I have been a fan of his design work and leadership and I feel it is important to mark the passing of a Master of the craft of Automobile Design.   The current Cadillac designs are possible and popular because of the design of those 1992 models.  Thank you Chuck Jordan.
