Cheap Car Insurance and Cheap Auto Insurance are two of the most-searched for phrases according to one index, and two phrases with one of the most sought-after search target markets.

What is driving so many people to search for cheap car insurance? Well, let's consider what factors tend to drive up your auto insurance.  First, an insurance company normally considers factors about the vehicle you are insuring, location that the vehicle will be operated, and factors about the operator's driving record in order to determine the cost of insurance for that vehicle and driver.

How can the type of vehicle effect cheap car insurance?
The more likely a vehicle is to be involved in an accident, the higher the risk to the insurance company, and the more they will quote to insure the vehicle.  For example, a V8 Mustang GT is more expensive to insure than a V6 Mustang.

How can the location of the vehicle effect cheap car insurance?

First, choose a vehicle that has a very high insurance company crash test rating.  These are vehicles that do not sustain high damage in crash test, and do not require expensive repairs.
Second, if possible it is beneficial to live in a low-traffic, low-risk neighborhood, and in a state with good insurance regulations that help to limit the insurance company liabilities.
Third, be careful out there.  By avoiding moving violations and other tickets, and keeping your record clean, you can impress the insurance companies as a good insurance risk.

Remember -- it is better to get insurance from a well funded insurance company that will be there when you do need them (I hope you don't need them!) than to get the very lowest quote and then have the insurance company deny your claims.
