1996 STS Performance Data

The following graph was created using the AP-22 Continuous Data mode, importing the data to Excel, and graphing the raw data:

It is interesting to see the peak in first gear at 43 mph, then the PCM severely pulls back the timing & HP for the shift, then the shift, and then the PCM allows the greater HP in 2nd gear, since the transmission can better stand the power.  The peak HP in second would be at 85 mph or so.  True horsepower peak is probably in third gear, since it is 1:1, but redline in third is at over 140 mph.

It will be hard to get to 6 seconds for 0-60 mph time when the car is just coming out of the 1-2 gear change from 45-55 mph!
